On our 10th and final day of the Two For The Money EP countdown, we’ve got a special surprise!
We were surprised and honoured that an amazing acapella group from Tiffin University, Ohio, were inspired enough by our collaboration with PJ Morton & Adam Levine that they decided to cover our song live, numerous times. The group’s Musical Director, and Head of Tiffin University Music Department, Brad Rees, reached out to us and requested permission to record a cover of the song. PJ and the gang were more than happy for Up In The Air to put their own spin on “Heavy”, and we decided to put the fun version of the song on our EP as a bonus track!
Today we’d like to share it with you! You can stream Up In The Air’s version for free, and download it with the rest of the EP tomorrow!
UP IN THE AIR

Just one day to go until we release our EP, Two For The Money as a free download on this site! Our feature today is Maroon 5 frontman, Adam Levine.
In 1995, Levine, along with 3 original members of Maroon 5, started a 4-piece pop rock band called Kara’s Flowers. Despite a buzz about the bands 1997 debut album The Fourth World, and an appearance on hit TV show Beverly Hills 90210, the band were disappointed with the commercial performance of the album, selling only around 5000 records. The band decided to break up.
Moving from LA to New York, Levine and his old bandmates decided to give the music game another crack in 2002, reuniting to experiment with various different musical styles, from country and folk, to more groove-based music. They created a demo and circulated it around the industry, getting turned down by several labels before being picked up by Octone Records. On the advice of Octone executive, Ben Berkman, the band added a fifth member, talented guitarist; James Valentine, adopting the name ‘Maroon 5′. In 2004, the bands debut album Songs About Jane became the tenth best-selling album of the year, a full two years after its original release.
Since Songs About Jane, Maroon 5 and Adam Levine have gone on to be one of the most acclaimed bands in the world of music, selling-out numerous world tours and releasing 4 platinum albums. Levine has also become an icon, both inside and outside of music. Currently serving as a coach on hit talent show, The Voice, Levine also helps to launch the careers of aspiring musicians, as well as engaging in a number of business ventures.
Adam recently appeared as a guest vocalist on bandmate PJ Morton‘s debut solo album, New Orleans. It’s through our relationship with PJ that we were able to put our twist on Adam’s contribution to the record, and feature it on our free EP! We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed mixing it!
With just the weekend to go until we release Two For The Money, we’re excited to share our last couple of collaborators with you! Today we feature one of the hardest working people in music, Maroon 5 and Young Money artist, PJ Morton.
Having already become a Grammy-winning songwriter, penning songs for the likes of India.Arie, Jermaine Dupri, and LL Cool J, PJ joined perhaps the most prolific pop band in the world today; Maroon 5. Since auditioning on the recommendation of the bands musical director, Adam Blackstone, PJ has completed numerous tours with his new bandmates, and gone platinum with the album Overexposed.
Still also focussed on his solo work, PJ won the attention of Young Money President, Mack Maine, who signed PJ to the label in 2011. In March 2012, PJ released his first recording on Young Money Entertainment / Cash Money Records, a 7-track free EP entitled Following My First Mind. The EP featured his Maroon 5 bandmate, Adam Levine, as well as Young Money label head, Lil Wayne, and R&B sensation, Jazmine Sullivan. The release of the EP rapidly started a buzz about PJ’s solo ability, resulting in a number of promotional showcases in the USA and Europe, as well as an appearance on The Jimmy Fallon Show with the legendary Questlove and The Roots as his band.
In May 2013, PJ finally released his much awaited solo album on YMCMB, the affectionately titled New Orleans. The album features seasoned artists such as Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne, but a life long dream came true for PJ as the first major single from the album, Only One, featured his musical hero, the great Stevie Wonder. Although PJ had already worked with many notable names in music, including Oscar winning Indian composer A.R. Rahman, the collaboration with Stevie was a real milestone in an already glittering career.
We’ve already had the pleasure of working with PJ to promote his EP in Europe and Australia, and we’re delighted he’s been generous enough to let us use one of the songs on our own EP!
Back to the voices of our Two For The Money EP on Day 6 of our 10 day countdown! Today we feature another of the UK’s most talented and prolific rappers, Devlin.
Devlin hails from Dagenham in East London, and is currently signed to Island Records. After emerging from the underground Grime scene as part of a group called The Movement (made up of MCs Ghetts, Wretch 32, and Scorcher), Devlin started catching the ears of industry pioneers such as Tim Westwood and Kanye West, the latter of which posted a video of a 15-year-old Devlin freestyling on a Grime DVD.
Wider-spread attention came after Devlin’s first video was aired on Channel AKA in 2009. The song “London City” spent an astounding 10 weeks at the number 1 spot on the channels own official chart. The following year, Devlin released his debut album on Island Records, entitled “Bud, Sweat and Beers“, from which we released three Top 40 singles. Devlin’s second and most recent album, ‘A Moving Picture‘ was released in 2013, with the singles ”Watchtower” (featuring Ed Sheeran) and “Rewind” (featuring Diane Birch) both breaking into the Top 10 in the official UK Charts.
During an appearance on DJ Target‘s BBC 1xtra show in early 2013, Devlin announced that he was looking for somebody to remix his latest promo single, “Love Cards” featuring Etta Bond. We decided to to get involved, and had the honour of Devlin kindly sharing our version via his Twitter page. We’re really looking forward to impressing him further in the future, and hopefully collaborating on something fresh someday!
Today our 10 day countdown to Two For The Money takes a break from the musicians featured on our EP, and instead we focus on a different type of artist; the wonderful illustrator of our artwork, Ellie Tzoni!
Ellie is a highly talented London-based illustrator and designer who has a unique and eye-catching style to her work. Having graduated with a degree in Illustration & Animation, Ellie has since gone on to work on a number of commissions for top clients across various industries. Some of these include the likes of Computer Arts, Grafik, Oh Comely, The Ride Journal, AnOther, and Snor Publishing.
Ellie’s work is characterised by her tasteful use of textures, shapes and colours, while keeping her composition clean and balanced. It’s Ellie’s obvious ability to capture the essence and desired message of the brands she’s worked with that originally attracted us to her work, and we’re thankful she agreed to work with us. We think she’s done a sensational job on our cover art, and hope she’ll be up for collaborating with us in the future too!

Just under halfway through our 10 day countdown to Two For The Money now, and we’ve already told you about three wonderful collaborators on the EP. Today we’re unmasking the pen-wielding wizard behind many of your favourite artists hit songs!
Tiyon Mack, more widely known by his fans as TC, is your favourite songwriter’s favourite songwriter. Having written for some of R&Bs top names, including Brandy, Estelle, John Legend, and Keyshia Cole, he’s recently penned a song on Justin Bieber‘s multi-platinum selling album “Believe“. The pulsating “She Don’t Like The Lights“ was also included on the acoustic version of Bieber’s album, and boasts all the characteristics of TC’s soaring vocals and thick harmony arrangements.
In addition to TC’s knack for writing hit songs for chart-topping artists, he also keeps his fans busy with a host of free mixtapes and albums, as well as an ever-expanding catalogue of covers of his own favourites, from Adele, to Kimbra, to Chris Brown. On occasion he also invites fans and potential collaborators to try their hand at remixing his covers by offering the acapellas via his SoundCloud page. Thanks to TC’s generosity, we were able to take advantage of this and use his vintage R&B vocals on Two For The Money with his blessings, of course.
We gave you a little insight into Messiahbolical’s collaboration with us in yesterdays introduction to Ron E Jones, but on Day 3 of the Two For The Money EP countdown, we’d like you to meet UK hiphop’s best kept secret!
Messiahbolical has widely been regarded as one of the most technically gifted rappers in the UK, particularly since his explosive appearance on Craig David’s sophomore album, “Slicker Than Your Average” as well as several notable performances on Tim Westwood’s BBC radio cypher show. Messiah’s early trademarked double-time rhymes on the song “Eenie Meenie“ garnered so much attention that Craig decided to call upon him for numerous live shows, many of which were televised (including Later… with Jools Holland, Top of the Pops Awards and more).
Messiah has since released a number of popular mixtapes, singles, and music videos which have kept him at the forefront of the British hiphop scene, but perhaps most impressively warranted the praise and respect from his peers and fans across the pond in the US and worldwide.
Having been a long-time friend and collaborator of one half of The Dualists, and also Ron E Jones, Messiah kindly agreed to lend his lyrical prowess to our collaboration on Two For The Money. We’re over the moon with the result, and we’re sure this record will be spinning in the clubs and cars all summer long!
